Graphic designer and illustrator, JAPAN
Tatsuya is an award-winning designer from Shizuoka prefecture, who graduated from Tama Art University. His work includes material magazines, music-related illustrations, and set designs.
I first thought of bonsai as an image of Japan. Instead of using a traditional bonsai, I mixed the deer horn with the bonsai to add a little bit of fun.
I see ink paintings as a connection between past and present. The monochromatic and transparent world of ink paintings represents the past. From this, I enriched the picture with many colorful elements to express a present world that is confusing and constantly expanding.
I carefully searched for images among the huge amount of Japanese materials that match well with my own paintings. All these different materials were gathered together, adjusted over and over again to form as one. I believe I was able to embed part of my own character in this piece of artwork.
